CLYDACH HERITAGE CENTRE

Clydach Heritage Centre is now open and can be visited on Saturdays between 11am and 3pm and Sundays between 12 and 3pm. The City the County of Swansea secured funding through the Valleys Regional Park initiative to restore the old Canal Museum in Coed Gwilym Park Clydach. Combined with the City & County of Swansea contribution this amounted to £45k worth of funding available to redevelop the building as “The Clydach Heritage Centre”.

The ‘Friends of Clydach Heritage Centre’ is a volunteer group aiming to preserve and promote local heritage for future generations.  The Friends are looking for more members to join them and, if they can spare a few hours, staff the new building.  Members will be invited to attend talks on the heritage of Clydach to help them give information about the local area to visitors of the Park. For those who want them training sessions will be provided by the Valleys Regional Park and Swansea Council for Voluntary Services later in the year.

Coed Gwilym Park is part of the Valleys Regional Park, a network of visitor facilities, country parks, heritage sites and nature reserves across the Valleys. The Valleys Regional Park will make a significant contribution to the promotion of the Valleys as the Heart and Soul of Wales.

The Valleys Regional Park is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.
